The Ashokan Reservoir Promenade is one of the Hudson Valley's most underused assets: a 2.8-mile paved path along the southern shoreline of the Ashokan Reservoir, the second-largest reservoir in New York State. This path is a source of roughly 40 percent of New York City's drinking water, and as you walk or bike, you're walking directly on the infrastructure that moves that water 100 miles south. The trail is flat, paved, and wide enough for walkers, cyclists, and cross-country skiers alike, an easy outing for families, older visitors, or anyone who wants scenery without effort.
