Plattekill Falls in Elka Park is a five-minute walk to a rock amphitheater with the waterfall, one of the shortest approaches in the Catskills.
Platte Clove Preserve sits at the head of Platte Clove, a steep-walled gorge cut into the escarpment edge of the northern Catskills. Run by the Catskill Center, it's one of the few privately protected waterfall access points in the region. The main draw, Plattekill Falls, is a short, steep walk down switchbacks from the parking area, where the gorge walls rise around a clear plunge pool.
The experience varies with the season.
