Katonah Museum of Art rotates three or four exhibitions yearly with no permanent collection. Fresh shows feature contemporary and historic art.
In 1954, Inge Brouard Brown led a group of local women meeting upstairs at the Katonah Library to found the museum. They built it as a non-collecting institution, mounting three to four exhibitions each year on rotating themes rather than maintaining a permanent collection. This means the walls shift regularly: contemporary art and design one season, American history or craft another.
Edward Larrabee Barnes designed the building, which opened in November 1990 for $5.3 million.
