Nine Pin Cider Works
Nine Pin Cider Works in Albany was New York's first licensed farm cidery, opened in 2014, and presses only local apples without any concentrate.
Alejandro del Peral grew up on his family's apple farm in Ghent, and after interning with Citizen Cider's cidermaker (who held a PhD in chemistry) he spent years perfecting a blend of his own. In 2013 that cider, Catskill Thunder, won gold at the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition. When New York's farm-cidery license law took effect on January 15, 2014, Alejandro opened Nine Pin's doors six weeks later, on February 28, as the state's first licensed farm cidery.
The tasting room sits in Albany's Warehouse District, attached to a production space you can see into from the bar (ask about a tour of the facility).
