The name isn't accidental: patriarch Nicholas Concklin named the property Pomona, after the Roman goddess of fruitful abundance, and the town grew up around it. Eleven generations of the Concklin family have farmed this same Rockland County ground for around 300 years, which by most counts makes this the oldest family business in New York State and the eighth oldest in the country. The family made dairy products here during the Revolutionary War; more recently, a family member was setting up at the farmers market at the World Trade Center itself on the morning of September 11, 2001.
