Hudson Valley, NY

Everything worth stopping for.

One honest field guide to the Hudson Valley — the trails, the tables, the farm stands and the odd little museums. Nobody pays to be in it, and we say which ones are worth the drive and which ones you can skip.

Who we are

We live here.
That's the method.

Six friends who grew up in the Hudson Valley and never got round to leaving. Two of us work in the park service. Two have spent years in kitchens and dining rooms around the region. On any given weekend one of us is out clearing trail or helping at a market.

Nobody pays to be in the guide — no sponsored entries, no affiliate links. A place is in here because we'd send a friend there, and when one closes or stops being worth the drive, we take it out.

More about us

How we work

We cover the whole valley, not just the famous bits.

We take it a piece at a time

Trails on the west bank one month, kitchens in Beacon the next, farm stands whenever they're open — so we end up somewhere past the handful of places we already knew about.

We say what we actually think

Every place gets a tier and a caveat — the thing we'd say to a friend on the phone, including when the answer is that it's fine but you could skip it.

We keep going back

Places close, change hands, or quietly stop being worth the drive. We come back through, pull those, add what's new and rewrite what's drifted. You don't pay again for any of it.

Ready when you are

One very good weekend.
