Ossining's Down to Earth Farmers Market sets up every Saturday from 8:30 to 1 in the parking lot at Spring and Main, which locals call Market Square. This is where Down to Earth began: Miriam Haas launched it in 1991 after two Hudson Valley farmers agreed to sell produce directly out of this lot. The company grew from there into markets in Brewster, Pleasantville, Hastings-on-Hudson, and beyond, but Ossining's has remained the flagship.
Saturday mornings bring the expected lineup for a market this established: fruits and vegetables in season, local meats and eggs, honey, maple syrup, baked goods, and prepared foods from a rotating set of Hudson Valley producers.
