Soons Orchards in New Hampton: 85 apple varieties since 1910, cider donuts, and monthly dinners where a CIA chef cooks the week's ripe fruit.
The farm store opens year-round (364 days a year, closed only on New Year's), stocked with grass-fed beef, free-range eggs, local goat cheese, honey, maple syrup, and their own bakery goods. The apple cider donuts are what people come for, and they deliver.
If you want to pick apples yourself, the orchard sits on County Route 50, a few minutes from the store. U-pick opens on weekends starting Labor Day weekend and runs through the fall.
