Turkey Mountain Nature Preserve is compact: 125 acres owned by the Town of Yorktown, built around a single 831-foot summit. It rewards a short, steep climb rather than a long day's hike. The White Trail climbs directly from the small Route 118 parking lot to the top in under a mile: steep and rocky, short enough that you'll reach the summit views while your legs are still cold. The Blue Trail takes the gentler way back down, so most people go up White and down Blue rather than retrace their steps.
