Rockland Cider Works operated in Orangeburg until a zoning dispute closed the location, reopening as Sunken City Cider in Gilboa.
The cidery was originally on Van Houten Farms in Orangeburg, but a years-long zoning dispute with neighbors over agritourism use ended with the location closing for good in 2026. A New York court sided with the neighbors and awarded them legal fees. The team regrouped upstate as Sunken City Cider at 193 Stryker Road in Gilboa, Greene County, close to three hours north of Rockland County.
The Gilboa tasting room operates under a big open-sided pavilion with picnic tables and long views over the Schoharie hills.
