Samascott Orchards in Kinderhook: pick-your-own strawberries through apples and ground-picked chestnuts. Fall corn maze is a county tradition.
Samascott Orchards is a fourth-generation family farm, open seasonally from mid-June through October, with pick-your-own crops that progress through the season. Early summer brings strawberries and cherries; those give way to blueberries and raspberries, then apples and chestnuts in fall. The chestnuts stand out: you gather them off the ground rather than pick from trees, which is uncommon for the region.
The on-site cider mill presses apple cider throughout the season.
