The Hudson Mercantile

Chris Hebert cut his teeth as an interior and furniture designer at Toad Hall inside ABC Home in Manhattan, working alongside Allen Ransome and Randall Van Syoc, before bringing that eye for mixing eras up to Hudson. His 10,000-square-foot Allen Street shop spans two connected spaces, stocked with constantly rotating pieces from a network of dealers and artists. Two visits a month apart rarely turn up the same floor.

Mid-century is a strength here, with Paul McCobb pieces alongside French Bergere chairs, architectural salvage, and a willingness to pair a Renaissance-era portrait with a 1970s Italian lamp if the pairing works.
