Cafe Mutton opened in May 2021 on a bright corner of Columbia Street, chef-owner Shaina Loew-Banayan's first restaurant after working the line at Fish & Game and running the kitchen at Bartlett House. The name is a philosophy as much as a menu note: mutton, the unloved older cousin of lamb, stands in for cooking the cuts and ingredients that usually get passed over. Most of the meat comes from Kinderhook Farm; produce comes from Ironwood Farm and MX Morningstar Farm, both a few miles up the road.
