Mohonk Preserve holds the ridge everyone calls the Gunks: over 8,000 acres of quartz-conglomerate cliff, hardwood forest, hemlock ravine, and glacial lake, laced with more than 75 miles of trail and old carriage road. It's the largest private nature preserve in the state, and the scale holds up; you can spend a full day here and not repeat a trail.
