Stony Kill Falls in Kerhonkson is the Shawangunks' tallest single drop at 90 feet, reached by a short, steep trail off Shaft Road near Minnewaska.
Stony Kill Falls plunges 90 feet over a stone ledge into a shaded pool, the tallest single drop in the Shawangunks. The falls are tucked into a corner of Minnewaska State Park that most visitors never reach, since they park at the main entrance and never hear about the Shaft Road access point.
The hike is 1.1 miles out and back with about 209 feet of climbing, short enough for an afternoon but steep enough near the top that you'll feel it. The trail follows a stream through hardwood forest before the falls come into view all at once, dropping into a rocky basin below.
