Awosting Falls in Kerhonkson drops 60 feet into a pool reachable in half an hour on a flat, stroller-friendly trail at Minnewaska State Park.
Awosting Falls drops 60 feet into Peterskill Stream inside Minnewaska State Park Preserve, framed by moss-covered rock and thick forest canopy. From the lower parking lot, the trail to the falls runs about 30 minutes each way on a wide, well-graded path, flat enough for strollers and a first hike with young kids.
You can view the falls from the top of the ledge or walk down to the base for a different angle. In warmer months, people wade into the pool at the bottom, though swimming itself is off-limits here.
