Kettleborough Cider House
Tim Dressel makes cider from apples his family has grown in New Paltz since 1923, on ground that still has the old Kettleborough schoolhouse standing.
Tim Dressel opened this cider house in 2011 on land his family has farmed since 1923, when his great-grandfather Fred started growing apples here. A 2007 Cornell graduate, Tim came home to run the orchard and turned part of it into a cider house built on his own apples rather than trucked-in fruit. The name comes from Kettleborough, the historic LeFevre-family settlement that once stood on this ground; the old Kettleborough School House still stands next to the orchard.
The taproom sits with the Shawangunks, the Gunks, filling the view from the patio, which is the reason to come on a clear afternoon rather than a rainy one.
