Breakfast counter at Main Street Bistro in New Paltz since 1993, serving Franklin Lakes Cranberry Cakes and in-house bakery. Weekend mornings draw lines.
Doug and Teresa Thompson opened Main Street Bistro in 1993, and after thirty years it remains the New Paltz breakfast place people plan weekends around. The Franklin Lakes Cranberry Cake, a flapjack loaded with cranberries and almonds, is the signature draw. Eggs benedict and corned beef hash have their own followers, and the in-house bakery supplies fresh bread, pastries, and pie to the dessert case each morning.
Weekend mornings between 8 and 11 mean a wait, sometimes a long one.
