Vegan chocolate since 2003 in New Paltz: beet-coriander truffles, thyme caramels, and fair-trade coffee from Lagusta's Chocolates & Cafe.
Lagusta Yearwood started making chocolate in 2003 as a side project to a vegan meal-delivery business she was running in New Paltz; the chocolate took over within a couple of years. An original storefront and a Commissary space on Church Street both closed in 2022. A few months later, she reopened everything as one streamlined cafe a few doors down on North Front Street, combining the chocolate counter and coffee bar into a single room.
