Whitecliff Vineyard & Winery in Gardiner grows cold-hardy grapes and Cabernet Franc at the Shawangunk base, with seated tastings and cliff views.
Michael Migliore and Yancey Stanforth-Migliore spent more than 40 years perfecting the mix of cold-hardy hybrids and traditional Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc that thrive in this Shawangunk microclimate, reaching a balance you don't expect this far north. Their operation has won more international medals than any other Hudson Valley winery. Michael's post-IBM retirement turned into a serious project, and the Gardiner location sits surrounded by 26 of the estate's 33 vineyard acres with unobstructed views of the cliffs.
Seated tastings walk you through eight wines with staff who discuss varietals and climate rather than pour and move on.
