Tarrytown Music Hall has been putting on shows since 1885, and the building still looks the part: a Queen Anne facade on Main Street, a pressed-tin ceiling, and a curved balcony close enough to the stage that even the back row feels near the performers. Acts range from touring comedians and folk musicians to local dance recitals, silent-film screenings with live organ accompaniment, and Broadway shows on their way to bigger houses. With 843 seats and no bad vantage points, balcony rows have legroom and sightlines that most halls twice this age can't match.
The Music Hall runs as a nonprofit and is powered by solar panels, which matters because ticket revenue goes back into keeping a 19th-century building running rather than into a private owner's pocket.
