Beans Cat Cafe in Beacon is a working cat lounge where rescue cats are available for adoption. You can watch them for a half hour without handling them.
When you arrive at Beans, you order coffee at the counter, then book time in the adjacent glass-walled lounge where six to eight rescue cats live until adoption takes them somewhere better. The cats rotate in and out as they find homes, so the lineup on your visit won't be the lineup next month. More than 450 cats have found homes through spaces like this one.
Your half hour runs about $8 per person, an hour about $13.50.
