Hudson Valley Brewery

Hudson Valley Brewery has been blending and souring beer in Beacon since 2016, building its name on sour ales instead of the hop-forward IPAs most Hudson Valley breweries chase. The fruit-forward sours here taste closer to a good natural wine than typical American craft beer: blueberry, cherry, whatever's local and in season, folded into a barrel-aged base that's tart first and sweet only at the finish.

The tasting room takes up two levels of a renovated Main Street building, with a bar looking down into the production space below, and more seating and a patio facing the street. It reads more like a wine bar than a beer hall: clean lines, quieter than the typical taproom, suited to an afternoon with friends or a low-key date rather than a game-day crowd.

The kitchen runs a rotating menu of sandwiches, salads, and snacks on the days it's open, and the brewery also makes a small run of wine and cider alongside the beer. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday, though you can still pick up beer to go those two days between 10am and 4pm if a craving hits mid-week. Park in the municipal lot on Churchill Street and walk over.
