Lyonshare Public House in Beacon serves char-grilled porterhouse and $2 oysters, run by Bud Schmeling, who spent 13 years at Peter Luger's.
Lyonshare opened in October 2024 in the old Max's on Main space, built on a British public house concept: a warm room with a hot meal, a pint, and a room upstairs if you needed one. Bud Schmeling, who spent 13 years running the dining room at Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn and later worked at Gage & Tollner in Manhattan, built the place around that vision. He studied literature at Virginia Military Institute and Brooklyn College, where Allen Ginsberg was one of his professors, and that sensibility shows in everything here.
The menu circles around char-grilled dry-aged steaks: the NY strip at $44 and the 32-ounce porterhouse for two at $120, both served with garlic confit, steak butter, and a classic pan sauce.
