Kamel Jamal, his sister Kate Nakhleh, and partner Ralph Clemente opened Beacon Bread Company in 2014. The place has run the same way ever since: bakery and espresso bar in front, kitchen and bar behind it. A scratch operation produces more than 80 percent of what they serve: bread, cured salmon, jelly, yogurt, and peanut butter, all made in-house.
