Cold Spring Village & Main Street
Cold Spring's Main Street slopes a half-mile to a gazebo on the Hudson with West Point views; the village is built on the river's deepest point.
Cold Spring sits on the Hudson's deepest point, directly across from West Point, with a historic downtown intact enough that the whole district made it onto the National Register of Historic Places. Main Street slopes downhill for about half a mile and ends at a hexagonal gazebo built right into the riverbank, the natural stopping point for a visit, whether that means an ice cream from Moo-Moo's Creamery or ten minutes watching a barge move upriver.
The village made its name as an ironworks center in the 1800s (the West Point Foundry, a short walk away, cast Civil War cannon), and today Main Street runs on antiques and food instead. The Cold Spring Antiques Center at 77 Main packs around two dozen vendors under one roof, with several smaller antique shops and boutiques filling in the rest of the block.
