Green Growler in Croton-on-Hudson is a craft-beer taproom with twelve taps and bottles, known for free Tuesday jazz hosted by Grammy-winner Paul Francis.
Evan Perdomo-Cohen, a Croton musician who used to edit video for a living, bought what was a homebrew supply shop in 2019 and built it into the taproom it is now. Twelve rotating drafts and upward of 150 bottles and cans, almost all from small independent breweries, fill the shelves, with Hudson Valley producers getting the best shelf space. He named it after Howlin' Wolf and the beer-and-jazz joints of the mid-century South, and that's the register the room plays in: sofas, gallery walls hung with decorated ceiling tiles, and a staff that will talk you out of the IPA you were about to order if something better arrived that week.
Tuesday nights are the reason people who don't otherwise drink craft beer end up here: a free jazz jam hosted by Paul Francis, the Grammy-winning drummer who's played behind Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, and Stevie Wonder.
