Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, rebuilt in 2024 with Meyer Sound, overlooks Sawkill Creek. Indie and Americana acts sound great from every angle.
Albert Grossman, the manager behind Bob Dylan, The Band, and Janis Joplin, started building this creek-side complex in the 1960s. The theater itself was still under construction when he died in 1986, and it finally opened in 1989. The room sits along Sawkill Creek a couple of miles outside Woodstock's village center, one piece of a larger property that also includes Utopia Studios, built for Todd Rundgren in 1979.
A 2022 renovation fixed the building's long-standing mildew and bathroom problems.
