Built in 1950, the Overlook Mountain Fire Tower is the newest of five remaining fire towers in the Catskills. After closing in 1988, it reopened in 1999 as the first tower in the park to reopen for public visits, and it's listed on the National Historic Lookout Register. The 60-foot steel tower sits at 3,140 feet and commands views across the Hudson River Valley, the Ashokan Reservoir, the Berkshire and Taconic ranges, and five states on a clear day.
