The park spans 120 acres of meadow, woodland, and Hudson shoreline between Red Hook and Rhinecliff. Estate owners laid it out around 1850 as a sequence of "outdoor rooms": open fields, stands of trees, and stone walls meant to be walked through like a designed landscape rather than just hiked. Scenic Hudson has managed the park for decades, keeping the bones of that original layout intact.
The main loop runs 2.3 miles on mostly flat gravel and grass, an easy walk that takes most people under an hour, though you'll stop constantly for the views.
