Gigi Hudson Valley in Rhinebeck: Italian food from Hudson Valley farms since 2001 in a converted 1920s Chevrolet garage. Heated patio.
Gigi Hudson Valley, formerly known as Gigi Trattoria, has occupied a converted 1920s Chevrolet garage on Rhinebeck's Montgomery Street since 2001. Chef and registered dietitian Laura Pensiero opened it as one of the first restaurants in the region built entirely around what local farms were growing. The garage's high ceilings and light let the room feel open and convivial rather than cramped, even on a packed Friday night. The kitchen keeps rotating the menu seasonally to track the harvest, so a summer visit and a February one taste like two different restaurants.
