Rhino Records occupies a compact storefront on North Front Street in Uptown Kingston's Stockade District, packed floor to ceiling with vinyl, CDs, and a used-book section that runs from 19th-century Danish poetry to rock journalism. Rick Lange opened it in 2014 as a second location for his original Rhino Records in New Paltz, which he's run since 2005. The name traces back to the famous LA record label and shop from the 1970s.
Rick built his ear working the video store next door to his original New Paltz location, stocking its alternative and punk sections before he ever owned a record store.
