Rough Draft in Kingston serves Counter Culture coffee and cocktails in a pre-1774 stone house at a unique four-corner Revolutionary-era intersection.
Rough Draft Bar & Books moved into one of the four stone houses at Kingston's Four Corners in 2017, at the intersection of Crown and John Streets, where builders raised a stone house on every corner before the Revolutionary War (the only intersection left standing like that in the country). The exposed brick and hand-hewn beams are from the pre-Revolutionary era; the string lights, mismatched armchairs, and shelves stacked two-deep with paperbacks are Rough Draft's own touches.
The book selection favors new fiction and regional authors, shelved a few feet from a full bar serving craft beer and cider (a lot of it local), wine, and cocktails. Mornings bring Counter Culture coffee and fresh pastries; the kitchen also turns out savory hand pies daily.
