Tubby's in Kingston is a dive bar opened in 2018 with breakfast tacos, 20-plus mezcals, and live bands on a stage you can touch from your seat.
Cory Plump, Katy McElroy, and Morgan Coy opened Tubby's in 2018 after Coy moved to the Hudson Valley and talked his friends into leaving Mexico City to build a bar with him in Midtown Kingston. The corner space used to be unremarkable; what they built is still a dive, but one that books local and touring bands, DJs, and karaoke on a rotating schedule.
The kitchen is vegetarian-forward: breakfast tacos are the signature order, veggie burgers get greens from Sunfrost Farms, and the salads work as dinner. Behind the bar there are more than 20 mezcal varieties, natural wines, and rotating taps from Sloop and Suarez Family Brewery, plus seasonal cocktails.
