The William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail is a 13.4-mile paved, off-road trail that forms part of the larger 750-mile Empire State Trail network. It runs from the Walkway Over the Hudson, the 1.5-mile pedestrian bridge over the river, northwest through LaGrange, Wappinger, and East Fishkill to the restored Hopewell Depot in Hopewell Junction. Along the way you'll pass the Veterans Memorial Mile in Wappinger, which honors the five military branches, plus wooded stretches, local parks, and residential neighborhoods.
