Flat Iron Gallery occupies three rooms on the second floor of Peekskill's landmark Flat Iron Building, the wedge-shaped structure at the corner of South Division Street. The gallery opened in 1996 and is run by Wendie Garber, a retired art teacher from the Hendrick Hudson and Croton school districts, who chooses every piece from more than 100 regional artists working mostly in the Hudson Valley.
The three rooms hold a carefully curated range: traditional oil landscapes and still lifes share walls with contemporary work and pop art, with handcrafted jewelry filling the gaps. Prices span widely, so a visitor with fifty dollars and one with several thousand can both walk out with something.
