Wunderbar in Rhinebeck is the relocated Hudson restaurant after a fire gutted the original in August 2025. Same schnitzel and mostly the same staff.
Imre Vilaghy opened the original Wunderbar in Hudson in 2002; Lyle Lentz took over in 2011 and ran it for the next fourteen years, turning it into the kind of place you ended up on a Tuesday because you didn't feel like cooking. In August 2025, an electrical fire spread through the walls and ceiling for hours before anyone saw flame, and by the time the four-alarm call went out the building was gutted. Lentz and his wife, Jaclyn Albizu, found out by phone while on a five-day Bermuda cruise with their two kids. Albizu has said Lentz told her to sit up and put her glasses on before he broke the news.
