Organic vegan counter-serve in a converted ice cream parlor since 2007. Karma Road in New Paltz still serves the same soups and Tempeh Reuben.
When Jenn and Seth Branitz arrived in New Paltz over the 2006 holidays with two young kids, no jobs, and no family nearby, opening a restaurant wasn't the plan. But they'd spent over a decade running the juice bar at a Long Island health food store and knew the format. When they spotted a former ice cream parlor on Main Street, they converted it into an organic vegan and vegetarian counter-serve, opening February 22, 2007. It was a bet that a college town built on yoga studios and outdoor sports could support an all-vegetarian kitchen.
