Rhino Records has been in New Paltz since 1990, when Steve Ferber opened it on Main Street. Rick Lange took over in 2004 and moved the shop into Water Street Market, where it occupies a small storefront just off the pedestrian courtyard. The bins hold vinyl, CDs, DVDs, cassettes, and a case of books and comics spanning classic rock, jazz, soul, folk, post-punk, and harder-to-find electronic and experimental pressings.
The shop runs on a buy-sell-trade model, so stock turns over fast enough that a Tuesday visit looks nothing like a Saturday one.
