The Dorsky sits on the SUNY New Paltz campus as a free museum with a permanent collection of more than 5,000 objects spanning roughly 4,000 years. You'll find pre-Columbian ceramics, Asian art, metalwork and jewelry including pieces by Esther Knobel and Lisa Gralnick, and substantial photography holdings featuring Eugène Atget and Berenice Abbott (from a gift by dealer Howard Greenberg) alongside Ed Ruscha's work. The museum runs rotating shows built around faculty, visiting artists, and the college's own BFA students in ceramics, painting, and mixed media, plus regular Hudson Valley regional surveys that place local artists alongside the historical collection.
