Lola's Cafe
Lola's Cafe in New Paltz builds short rib grilled cheese and peanut-sauced chicken fritters from scratch since 2017. Patio views the Shawangunks.
Ed Kowalski, CIA-trained, opened Lola's in Poughkeepsie in 2005 to build a fast-casual alternative to drive-through food: scratch-made, but quick enough for a lunch break. The New Paltz location followed in 2017, moving into the old Neko Sushi space at the corner of Main and North Chestnut, and kept the same system: grab a table number, order at the counter, let the kitchen catch up to you.
The menu runs through sandwiches, panini, grain bowls, wraps, and salads built around Hudson Valley ingredients. Daily specials from chef John Gilmore often outshine the standing menu.
